Good call, Cody. Your opening question, "Where did you hear about me?" is right on. As both a former gallery owner who has represented other artists and as an artist myself, I understand the temptation, but you have to be able to respect yourself, or you have nothing. Hey, by the time you take the gallery's commission out of the gallery sale, you could make more money, even at a lower price. But it is NOT ethical, nor does it make good business sense in the long run. I also asked that the artist's work sell directly to clients out of their studio at a comparable price structure to what I was showing. You know, when they didn't adhere to those agreements, I usually found out, and they were no longer with me.
