In other news, I've been thinking about scarcity and value lately. One thing that can (sometimes) make an artists work more valuable is when the artist begins to slow production or taper off a series. This creates scarcity, and increases the supply/demand ratio in favor of the value of existing works.
As you know, I closed my Studio/Gallery earlier this year so that I could pursue a lifelong dream of more travel. Without my studio, or even a stable place to paint at the moment, my overall production has dropped quite a bit. Don't worry I plan to create a new working space in the coming year, a new studio of some sort. But it likely wont be a public retail space. This time I want the privacy and time to explore and expand my work in new ways.
A change of scenery is also on the horizon. I dearly love the American Southwest, and I'll probably always visit and paint from the vast library of photos I've taken over the last 25 years living here. However I'm interested in new influences and different inspirations while I still have the time, freedom and capability.
I just returned from a six week exploration of Portugal. specifically I visited the Algarve region (Lagos) in the south, Lisbon in the center and Porto in the north. If you would like to see more of those photos and thoughts, scroll down my Facebook page here > Cody FB
Below are just a few shots from Portugal.
