Last week I participated in an event called Celebrating the Landscape which was organized by the Sedona Arts Center. This event was primarily made up of local artists, and we enjoyed a relaxed, friendly atmosphere during the week.
There were two paint-outs during this event. The second one took place behind the new Marriott in West Sedona. On my Facebook page you'll see a cool 360 view of some of us during the paint out. (Thank you Kelli Klymenko for the photo.) If you've never played with a 360 photo, you need to check this out.
The first paint out was at L'Auberge de Sedona along beautiful Oak Creek. The weather was gorgeous and we all enjoyed a wonderful morning of painting. As luck would have it, I won First Place at that paint-out, which came with a small cash award. It's always a thrill to win anything, so thank you Sedona Arts Center and L'Auberge de Sedona!
Interestingly, I set up a camcorder that morning to record my outdoor set-up and to show one way (of many I employ) of starting a plein air painting. I had no idea I would be recording the winning painting, but I got it all on video.
I'm currently in the process of learning a new editing program called Final Cut Pro. As a newbie, it will take some time, but I'll share that video as soon as I can trim it down and clean it up a bit.
Updates to my website
As many of you know, I'm a little obsessive about my website, continually tweaking or updating it. This month I added two new pages. SCHEDULE and VIDEOS.
The schedule page came about as a request from a collector who wanted to know in any given month where I would be, and if I was in my Jerome Studio or not. So here you go. I have the rest of 2017 posted there with links to the events I'll be attending throughout the rest of the year.
I'm just getting started with the videos page. So far there's a little 4 minute promo made for me by Red Bench, and Part One of a two part interview I did for the Master Secrets. Look for part 2 coming very soon!
That's all for now, come visit me in Jerome if you're in the area, I'm always painting something new.
