Hi everyone,
Leila and I just returned from a 5 day trip to Morocco. Travel always inspires and it's especially important for artists to refill the creative well as they say.
I went on this trip with no preconceived ideas and without my painting gear. We were on a whirlwind tour and there was no time to make art. Instead I tried to have a 'childs mind' and just take it all in, while getting lots of photos along the way of course. (I did several posts on Facebook if you want to see more pics)
The traffic in Marrakesh was pretty crazy with the little mopeds buzzing between the cars, trucks and busses just inches from death, people unexpectedly stepping off the curb into the mayhem and cars with no sense of distance or margin for error. It's really a remarkable dance and impressive to see, though I'll leave the driving to a local thank you.
Traffic aside, we spent the first and last day in Marrakesh. We loved the old town markets, narrow streets, and haggling with the merchants. We then took a van tour toward the desert, stopping in a small town for one night on the way, then one night in a tent in the desert, before the 12 hour ride back to Marrakesh. What an interesting and exotic trip.
