A Question and a Thank You

My new website is almost done, I'm just waiting on the developer to
finish up the shipping calculator for original paintings, and then we
go live! I've put a ton of hours into this site to make it a great
experience for you, my dear collectors. I want to give you more
choices and options than ever before and to help make it easier for you
to choose to collect my work.
To that end, I have a question for you.
Every week in my gallery I meet people who come in, look around and
tell me how much they love my work. Many leave without making a
purchase, despite my offering a range of prices beginning as low as $65
for metal prints with unframed originals starting at only $100.
Possibly some of these people are just being polite, others may
genuinely not have the means, but I don't believe it's just about the
money.
I know I'm not the best salesman; I've never really had the gift of
gab. The visual is my primary language. But even so, for some people
I couldn't keep them from not buying a painting they love. Yet for
others who profess their love, they just won't pull the trigger.
Just a few weeks ago a couple pulled up in a new Mercedes, they were
well dressed and told me they just purchased a second home in
Scottsdale. Obviously my work was well within their means. They spent
nearly an hour swooning over my paintings. We talked, and I added them
to my mailing list. But no sales have resulted yet, although I am
hopeful and will continue to communicate.
My questions for you . . .
What are the thoughts that make you hesitate to buy art even when you
love it and have the means?
What are your concerns or fears about collecting?
What could I do to alleviate those concerns?
Any thoughts you care to share on why you did collect my work, and what
it means to you, would be very much appreciated.
I know you're busy, so for those of you who will honor me with your
answers to any of these, I will offer free shipping for the next month
on any purchase no matter how large or small. You will also be entered
in a drawing for a free unframed painting. The winner gets their
choice of the three at the top of this newsletter. Each is a 9"x 12".
Please email your comments to [email protected], and you will be
added to the free shipping list for the month of March and entered into
the drawing for a free painting.
As a 'solopreneur' I work hard to offer you the best work I possibly
can. I want to give you the best service, too. I have never
subscribed to the old 'starving artist' idea and thanks to all of you,
last year was again my best ever.
I thank you in advance for your insights.
The winner of the drawing for the metal print from the Carefree show
last month was Rich and Robin S. from Scottsdale, Arizona.
Congratulations!
My next show is the 12th Annual Fountain Hills Fine Art and Wine
Affaire , March 11
- 13, 2016 in Fountain Hills, Arizona. If you're in the area, stop by
my booth and enter to win the next metal print giveaway! This will be
the second of only three outdoor tent shows I'm doing this year, so
don't miss your chance to win.
