Fall is here, and I've been really enjoying painting and mountain biking in the crisp weather, among the great autumn colors.
The top photo shows me during the 'Quick Draw' at the Grand Canyon plein air event.  This was my sixth time, I've been a part of it since the beginning, and a top seller each year.  This year I was once again one of the top 3 or 4 selling artists in the show.  I sold nearly all of the 20 paintings I did during the week on opening weekend, along with my studio piece and quick draw.  In fact, I just sent 7 more paintings to replenish my wall, as the show hangs at the famous Kolb Studio until the end of the year.
I had great fun painting with all my talented artist friends; seeing and learning from them is always a treat.  In the evenings, a few lies might have been told over campfires and beer, but only a few.   :-)
Since my return from the canyon, I've been back in the studio with renewed passion, painting like a mad man.  Having a successful show is always invigorating, and I think I'm still enjoying an energy burst from the GC Event.
Visit my website for images of some of these latest inspired works.
I also have some photos from some of my recent adventures on my Facebook page, if you're interested.
Our local paper does an annual 'Art and Gallery Guide', and they did a nice 'advertorial' on my celebrating 16 years of selling art in Jerome.  Here's the article.
One thing they mentioned in the article was the fact that I've been invited to participate in 'Travelling the West' which will be held at Southwest Gallery in Dallas in October 2015.  This is one of the largest galleries in Dallas, and the show is expected to be one of the more predominate shows of the year.
For all you artists out there, it's time to think about the Colorado River as it flows through the Grand Canyon. Next year's artist trip has been announced by the Sedona Arts Center. This will be an 8-day rafting trip May 6 - 13, 2015. We always have an incredible trip, with lots of photos and paintings and adventure. Consider joining us! Contact me for details at [email protected] or visit my River Trips page for more info first. You must be registered by Jan. 1 so the outfitter can secure permits from the Park service.
In just a couple of weeks, I'll be heading for Zion National Park once again for their plein air event. Time flies.
As always, I have some great new pieces in the studio. Come on by and see for yourself if you can make it to Jerome.  Many of my new landscapes are posted here on my website.  Let me know if you see something that might look great on your walls.
