Zion 2013

I just returned from my best ever Zion event! The weather was really nice this year, with the exception of the first day, which was the day I had to do my demo. I had a great crowd despite the weather, 30 or so people. We had a fun time talking art techniques and materials. I went back the next day and repainted my demo, which later sold at the silent auction.
My quick draw piece sold, my studio piece sold, and about 6 other paintings as well, two of which received awards and will become part of the Zion National Park collection. Whoohoo!
In the pre-show publicity, I was delighted to find my work featured in three magazines.   Western Art Collector, October 2013, pg. 80, Sojourns summer/fall 2013, pg. 6, and Western Art Collector, November 2013, pg. 129. See images here.
CG7 - The GRAND CANYON SEVEN is a group of accomplished artists that formed a couple of years ago. I was initially chosen as one of the original members, but due to my loyalty to a Scottsdale gallery, I bowed out. That gallery almost immediately broke our contract, but I had lost my spot in the group. (no good deed goes unpunished) However, one member of the group left this year due to conflicting obligations, so I was invited to return! It's such a great group, I'm thrilled to be back in and can't wait to show with my fellow Grand Canyon 7 artists. Look for news on our upcoming show in April, 2014.
Time flies, and it's already that time of year to be thinking of holiday gifts for those hard-to-buy-for people on your list. The Metal Prints have become increasingly popular, but it takes a couple of weeks for me to get them, so don't wait too long to order.
NEW - I've added a secure shopping platform to my website to make purchasing the prints quick and easy. Just click on any image on the Prints Page, select the size and number you want, and follow the prompts - just like Amazon! If you would like an image, or size you don't see, just email me and I'll try to make it happen for you. [email protected]
I'll be teaching a one-day workshop in Casa Grande (between Phoenix and Tucson) on Tuesday, December 3, from 9 - 5. This will be a condensed version of my 'Six Steps to Better Painting' class. If you're interested in this one-day intensive, feel free to contact me at [email protected] or call 928-300-4576. Cost is $135 for the day. Get started on your painting goals for next year early!
This class has only two spots left open as of this mailing.
As always, I have some great new pieces in the studio. Come on by and see for yourself if you can make it to Jerome this winter.  If not, many of my new landscapes are posted here on my website.  Let me know if you see something that might look great on your walls.
