Grand Canyon
I recently went up and hung a few new pieces on my wall at the Kolb Studio at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Those works will be on display and available for purchase until January, so if you're in the area, stop in and check out the show.
Zion National Park
I leave Sunday for Zion, my last event of 2018, and one I thoroughly enjoy each year. The staff are great to work with and of course the park is an amazing place to paint.
I will also sneak in a little time for mountain biking on Gooseberry Mesa before or after the event. You know, it's all about balance!
The event runs from November 6 - 12. Hope to see you there!
Ghost Town Impressions Series
Pictured above are three new paintings from the series. Top - 'Paul and Jerry's 18"x 24" $1500. Left - Cody's Studio 12"x 18" $800. Right - Monkey Wrench Gang 12"x 18" $800
Again, this series is my attempt to reinvent myself and grow in new directions artistically, using different techniques than I normally use in my pure landscape works. Some of this is now spilling over to my landscapes, and the results are very fun.
A Note about Koya
I know that when many of you receive my newsletter, the first thing you do is scroll down to see the photos of princess Koya. Believe me, I get it. Our sweet girl is very photogenic and the center of our world. What some of you don't know is that Koya has been having some seizures over the past year.
Out vet has run a lot of tests with more happening soon. Beagles are one of a handful of breeds that are prone to epileptic like seizures. Koya had her first episode in October of 2016, then was perfectly fine for the next ten months. Unfortunately, between mid-August and the end of this past October, she has had three more episodes. Each one has only lasted about a minute, which is relatively brief in the animal seizure world -- although it certainly doesn't feel like it. Koya seems to rebound fairly quickly, and an hour later you would never know anything had happened. We have her on medication after each event, and Sara and I continue to monitor and test to make sure we are doing the very best we can for her.
Our vet says it's a manageable condition, but of course it's frightening to see when it happens. Koya is still young, not quite six years old, and otherwise is healthy and happy. We intend to take good care of her, and we are thankful for each and every day we have with her. Koya has such a fun and complex personality, we sometimes forget she's not human.
Love and spend time with your four legged friends who give us so much. They are not here forever.

Home instruction. I have one plein air video of me painting along Oak Creek in Sedona, and one studio video about painting old trucks from a photo. I'm keeping these very affordable at just $35 each. There are also some FREE videos.
